Deacon's Corner

Gale Capone was set apart for the office of Deacon by the Metropolitan New York Synod, ELCA, on September 10th, 2000. She completed her studies at diakonia in June 1999 and did her internship at St. Paul’s and in the community for one year.

In brief, Deacon Gale has a ministry of Compassion, encompassing Eucharistic Ministry, Card Ministry, Shepherding Ministry, Bread Ministry, Prayer Ministry, Good Samaritan Ministry, and Pastoral Care at Mather Hospital and a weekly Bible Study at Echo Arms Adult Home in Port Jefferson.

Gale is currently on the Bishop’s Commission of Evangelical Outreach Prayer Task Force Ministry. Every congregation is sent a prayer calendar for parishioners to add to their daily prayers. She is also co-coordinator of the Peconic and Western Suffolk Deacons. We have formed Suffolk County Learning Center for Deacons and diakonia graduates for continued education.

Gale does Bible studies and is continuing her own education attending various seminars, lectures and courses.

We are also part of the ELCA Prayer Network. Gale receives prayer requests via email from all around the country. We add these names to our Prayer Chain, our Prayer Bookmark, and prayers on Sunday.

Gale is currently leading another Book of Faith Bible Study, “The Letter to the Hebrews”. It is on Thursday nights starting at 7 PM.

If you are interested in knowing any more about Gale’s ministry or about diakonia or would like to be prayed for, please contact Gale at the church.
